The E-Class Coupé
BlueEFFICIENCY helps Mercedes-Benz vehicles to protect the environment. For each model, tailor-made aerodynamics and energy-saving measures are drawn up with the objective of generating the maximum possible savings. Among these measures are, for example, low-rolling resistance tyres, aerodynamic bodywork, in-engine energy optimisation and diesel and petrol direct injection.
The optional DISTRONIC PLUS proximity control uses short-range and long-range sensors to maintain the desired safe distance to the vehicle in front. The system operates at speeds of between 0 and 200 km/h and is also helpful in city traffic or stop-and-go traffic as the sensors can work at a range of between 0.2 and 200 metres.
A simple touch of the "SPORT" button is all it takes to switch all the associated systems from the regular comfort mode to the sport mode. The damping becomes noticeably tighter and the engine responds to the gas pedal in a much more direct manner. The shift programme of the automatic transmission then changes to a more assertive mode which ensures optimum acceleration.
The PRE-SAFE® preventive occupant protection system can recognise critical driving situations in advance and then initiate preventive measures in order to protect the occupants: the side windows and the panoramic roof can be closed, the front passenger seat moved into a more favourable position and the seat belts tensioned. The PRE-SAFE® brake system is optionally available; it enables autonomous braking interventions.
From the front area, brimming with character with a twin headlamp face plus projection headlamps and integral Mercedes star in the radiator grille, to the muscular rear with diffuser and LED tail lights – the design of the E-Class Coupé is unmistakable and makes for an unforgettable appearance.
